Illumina BaseSpace
A genomic-workspace concept keeps sample context, variant detail and illustrative drug-gene relationships connected during research exploration.
An independent interface exploration inspired by the BaseSpace genomic workspace. The drug–gene explorer is a concept extension; this project is not commissioned or endorsed by Illumina.
Keep sample context, variant detail and drug–gene relationships visible together, while making the limits of synthetic evidence clear throughout a dense scientific interface.
Product interface design and interactive prototype
Responsive research workspace, interactive Genome lens, linked locus detail, drug–gene explorer, session review list and concept cover artwork.
The responsive prototype connects variant selection, relationship review and simulated pipeline feedback. Synthetic records and explicit evidence limits remain visible in the interface.
Independent portfolio concept by Ali Komeili / Desartly. Illumina and BaseSpace names and logo belong to their respective owners. Supplied glass-office cover is a conceptual visualization.
Keep the research context together
Researchers examining a variant need to move between its location and the surrounding evidence. This independent BaseSpace-inspired concept connects sample quality, a schematic genome map and drug-gene detail in one workspace. Synthetic records make the proposed exploration flow concrete without representing a clinical analysis.

A selection updates the whole context
The circular map, gene shortcuts and table rows provide different routes to the same locus. A selection updates gene detail, coverage and the relationship panel together. Orange makes the active connection visible, while monospaced coordinates distinguish location data from the explanatory text.

Make uncertainty part of the interface
The relationship panel keeps genotype, review status and an explicit evidence limit together. Its research signal invites further investigation without assigning a metabolizer phenotype or response score. A session review list supports collecting pairs for a closer look; the simulated pipeline demonstrates feedback without processing genomic files.

A linked workspace for exploration
The responsive prototype connects variant selection, relationship review and simulated pipeline feedback. Synthetic records and explicit evidence limits remain visible in the interface. The deliverable is a working research-flow concept for review with specialists and validated annotation sources.
